Mr. Mayer is the Chief Executive Officer, a Managing Director and a major owner of Associated Ventures LLC. He is also the Chief Executive Officer and a major shareholder of Associated Ventures Capital, LLC.
He has been the managing general partner involved in the development and acquisition of real estate projects with an aggregate value approaching $800,000,000 in today’s dollars. Company activities included all phases of acquisition, entitlement, design, construction, leasing and management. The partnerships developed 28 projects consisting of retail, industrial, residential, office and hotels ranging in size from 15,000 square feet to 250,000 square feet.
Projects such as the conversion of the Hollywood Congregational Church to the Screen Actors Guild headquarters or the long term lease of numerous parcels of land from the SMMUSD requiring the utilization of new state laws written at the direction of Mr. Mayer to facilitate the development of the Doubletree Hotel in Santa Monica and a new headquarters facilities for the SMMUSD as well as incubator industrial properties indicate that innovation was the rule and not the exception for Mr. Mayer. In addition to his real estate endeavors, Mr. Mayer was a cofounder, President and Chairman of the Board of Gamma Electronics Systems, a company specializing in consumer electronics that eventually went public. The company developed a proprietary technology entitled B.A.S.E. that is widely used in the professional segment of the entertainment field. The company was eventually merged into a conglomerate of sound technology companies.
Mr. Mayer was also the cofounder and President of Pho-T-Graphics, a company that pioneered the technique for the transfer of a customer’s photographic images to a T-shirt. He formulated and implemented a marketing strategy through Thrifty Drug Stores photography departments. Prior to its sale, the company had outlets in 128 Thrifty Drug Store locations.
Through Associated Capital LLC, in his capacity as Managing Director, Mr. Mayer has represented or acquired an equity interest in such companies as Sahara Resort, Inc., Car Rental Direct, KD Pools, Xiron Inc. and others in transactions totaling in excess of $150,000,000.
Mr. Mayer attended Arizona State University majoring in finance with a minor in political science. He also has postgraduate credits in political sciences from the University of Maryland.
Mr. Mayer’s philanthropic activities include being a cofounder of the West Side Children’s Center, a past director of the Guardians of Courage, a member of the UCLA Children’s Limb Bank Committee and presently serves as a director of The Celebrity Corps.
